Environmental Protection

Environmental protection is a top priority to Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven. Indeed the ISO14001 certification was integrated as a management system since 2001 for quality and safety. Lloyd Werft is committed to continuously strive to minimize their effect on the depletion of natural resources and energy.

Since the late 1990s, we have managed to significantly reduce environmental damage with targeted technical environmental protection measures.

An example of this was 10 years ago when Lloyd Werft built an on-site waste depot and sorting hall in the shipyard. The waste incurred during the repair/conversion times of ships lying in the shipyard can be sorted immediately thus enabling a pure disposal of the waste in a variety of ways.

For the prevention of water pollution we have an on-site water treatment facility. During the conversion of pumps and pipes, the used water is cleaned before being returned into the harbour.

Since early 2005, Lloyd Werft has become a member of the ‘Partnerschaft Umwelt Unternehmen’, which is an initiative between the Bremen and Bremerhaven councils and companies to reduce waste in the region.
